The FDA recommends that used needles and other sharps be immediately placed in FDA-cleared sharps disposal containers. There are small red biohazard sharps boxes in some of the restrooms on the first floor of our campus buildings. Please see list below. These boxes have been placed for the use of students, employees, and guests who may have medical reasons (examples: diabetes or severe allergic reactions) to inject themselves, and who have for one reason or another neglected to bring a personal sharps container with them for the injections. Contact the UAH Office of Environmental Health and Safety for any questions or concerns at: oehs@uah.edu or 256.824.6053.
