Open Enrollment 2018

Annual Open Enrollment for medical, dental and vision insurance, as well as Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA, DCA), begins on Wednesday, November 1 and ends on November 15, 2017 for all benefit eligible employees of UAH. Changes outside of Open Enrollment can only be made due to a life event.

Open Enrollment Key Factors

  • Review The 2018 Open Enrollment Guide under Quick Links.
  • Health insurance premiums will change and include updated salary tier levels.  Review the 2018 Schedule of Premiums under Quick Links.
  • Dental Premiums will change. 
  • Employees only need to respond if they are making a change in health, dental, vision coverage or enrolling in the FSA and/or DCA plans.  Current elections will continue into the new plan year.
  • All elections made during open enrollment will be effective January 1, 2018.
  • Documentation is required to confirm eligibility of dependent(s) not previously enrolled in your insurance plan (Definition of Eligible Dependents and Required Documents).
  • Current Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Dependent Care Account (DCA) participants must re-enroll for the 2018 calendar year. 
    If no action is taken, your FSA and/or DCA participation will end December 31, 2017

How to Enroll

  • Single Sign On (SSO) to HR Connection is now available via myUAH.  
    • Click on Login to HR Connection under the Quick Links tab above or
    • Go to my.uah.edu and enter your Charger ID and password. Click on the HR Connection link under the Human Resources Self Service section. 
    • Review the Enrollment User Guide for step-by-step instructions to view or change your current insurance elections.

Teladoc

  • Employees who are currently enrolled in UAH medical coverage now have access to Teladoc, a great health benefit that lets you talk with experienced doctors anytime, anywhere.
  • All Teladoc doctors are board-certified and state-licensed.  They can treat many health issues including:
    • Cold and flu symptoms, allergies, bronchitis, skin problems, respiratory infections, sore throat, sinus problems, and more.

Flexible Spending Account

  • Flexible Spending Accounts allow you to set aside pre-tax earnings to pay for qualified out-of-pocket medical and dependent care expenses. 
  • You must re-enroll each year to continue participation in the FSA plan.  
  • If no action is taken, your FSA and/or DCA participation will end December 31, 2017.
  • Maximum Annual Elections:
    • Medical: $2,650 per year (maximum allowed under Healthcare Reform)
    • Dependent Care: $5,000 per year ($2,500 for for married – filing separate returns per IRS guidelines)
  • You may carry-over up to $500 of unused health FSA balance from 2017 to 2018.  
    • The health FSA money carried over to the next year may be used only for claims incurred within the new plan year.
      • NOTE: You must participate in 2018 to access the carry over funds.

  • Debit card feature allows you to pay for eligible health care expenses at point of service.
  • Deadline for submitting claims for plan year is 90 days after the plan year ends (March 31, 2018).
