UAH College of Nursing hosts "HOSA Day" on campus

The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) College of Nursing will host more than 350 Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) from chapters across the state of Alabama on Friday, Oct. 21.

From 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. students will tour the College of Nursing, explore nursing as a major with an emphasis on specialty practice in nursing, learn about admission to UAH and the Early Promotion into Nursing Program. HOSA students will also visit the Learning and Technology Resource Center where they can interact with high fidelity simulators, clinical laboratory, and the Telehealth robots.

"Students in HOSA chapters are interested in health careers, so HOSA Day at UAH is designed to give students a deeper experience with nursing and the various specialties open to them. They will interact with simulated patients giving birth or getting treatment for acute illnesses that require critical care," said Dr. Karen Frith, UAH Nursing Associate Dean, Office of Undergraduate Programs. "Students will see that nursing is a career where human science and technology meet to restore health. Of course, the UAH College of Nursing will highlight our early promotion to nursing and inform them about admission to UAH."
