Message from the Dean of the UAH College of Nursing

Dr. Sheila Gentry

It is my pleasure to welcome you on behalf of the faculty and staff of the College of Nursing. We are proud to offer a dynamic academic environment where compassion meets innovation, and where the next generation of healthcare leaders begins their journey.

At UAH, we are deeply committed to preparing students to not only succeed in today’s healthcare landscape, but to shape its future. Our programs emphasize evidence-based practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and community engagement- hallmarks of a College where learning extends beyond the classroom and into real-world impact.

One of the things that makes our College distinct is the opportunity to engage in innovative research at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Our faculty, recognized experts in fields such as Pediatric and Adolescent Health, Nursing Education, Public Health, and Data Science, serve as dedicated mentors as you explore topics like Mental Health, Palliative Care, Global Health, and Oncology. Together, we tackle critical challenges and pursue solutions that improve health outcomes for individuals, families, and communities.

From studying stress management in clinical settings to exploring how aerial technology and telehealth can transform rural healthcare, our students and faculty are driving change. You’ll even find opportunities to contribute to research at the intersection of nursing and aerospace, an area where our College is leading bold conversations about the future of health and human performance.

Whether you are just beginning your journey or seeking to advance your practice, you’ll discover a community that supports your growth, celebrates your contributions, and empowers you to lead.

Thank you for considering the UAH College of Nursing. We are honored to be part of your path forward.

Go Chargers!

Karen Frith,
