Message from the Dean of the UAH College of Nursing

It is my honor to welcome you on behalf of our faculty, staff, students, alumni, and healthcare partners. At the UAH College of Nursing, we are committed to preparing compassionate clinicians, innovative scholars, and visionary leaders who will advance healthcare and improve the lives of individuals, families, and communities.
What makes the UAH College of Nursing truly distinctive is our close partnership with Huntsville Hospital Health System, one of the nation's largest not-for-profit health systems and a recognized leader in patient care, clinical excellence, and healthcare innovation. Through this collaboration, our students gain access to exceptional clinical learning experiences, mentorship from outstanding nursing leaders, and opportunities to engage in quality improvement, research, and workforce development initiatives that directly impact healthcare delivery across North Alabama.
As Dean of the College of Nursing and Executive Director of the UAH–Huntsville Hospital Health System Nursing Leadership Collaborative, I am proud to help lead a strategic partnership dedicated to strengthening the nursing workforce, advancing nursing leadership, expanding educational opportunities, and improving health outcomes throughout our region. Together, UAH and Huntsville Hospital Health System are creating a model for academic-practice collaboration that prepares nurses to meet the evolving needs of healthcare while driving innovation across clinical, educational, and research settings.
At UAH, we believe that the future of nursing lies at the intersection of compassionate care, scientific discovery, and technological innovation. Located in Huntsville—the nation's premier hub for technology, engineering, defense, and aerospace—we are uniquely positioned to foster interdisciplinary collaborations that connect nursing with data science, artificial intelligence, engineering, and digital health technologies. Our faculty and students are exploring innovative solutions that improve healthcare access, enhance patient outcomes, and address some of society's most pressing health challenges.
Research and scholarship are central to our mission. Our faculty are nationally recognized experts whose work advances nursing science, improves clinical practice, and informs health policy. Students have opportunities to participate in meaningful research addressing areas such as healthy aging, chronic disease management, mental health, rural health, health equity, symptom science, and technology-enabled care.
Most importantly, the UAH College of Nursing is a community dedicated to excellence, integrity, innovation, collaboration, and service. Whether you are beginning your nursing career or advancing your professional practice, you will find a supportive environment that challenges you to grow, encourages your success, and empowers you to lead.
Thank you for considering the UAH College of Nursing. We look forward to partnering with you on your educational journey and helping you become a leader who will shape the future of healthcare.
