Project HAPPENS (Helping Academic Professionals Prepare ELLs for Newfound Success) is a National Professional Development Program funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The mission of Project HAPPENS is to prepare educators in the Huntsville, Alabama, area to create linguistically and culturally responsive classrooms that best serve English Language Learners (ELLs) in area schools. Through this partnership between The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) and local school districts, pre- and in-service teachers and administrative personnel may apply to participate in online and in-person professional development training workshops and enroll in undergraduate and graduate ESL-related coursework to enhance their ability to work with ELLs in P-12 classrooms.
