Use this Charger Checklist to guide you as you prepare for your first semester at UAH! We recommend you complete your checklist before arriving on campus for New Student Orientation. Within 30 Days of Being Admitted Access Your Online Services Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication Multi-factor authentication is required for all UAH students to access your online services, including your UAH email and student account. UAH utilizes two services for multi-factor authentication: Duo and Google 2-Step Verification. You will need to set up both services within 30 days of being admitted to avoid getting locked out of your student accounts. Access myUAH To set up your myUAH account, UAH’s secure web portal, visit reset.uah.edu and follow the prompts to create your password. As a UAH student, you will use your myUAH account by visiting my.uah.edu to access campus information, accept or decline financial aid, register for classes, view your grades, see your academic transcript, and pay your bill. If an emergency arises that impacts you as an individual, the university will refer to your emergency contact information. It is important to enter a parent or family member's contact information under "Personal Information" in your my.uah.edu account. Access Your UAH Email To access your UAH email account (@uah.edu), visit mail.uah.edu and enter your Charger email address as the username and your myUAH password. Verify Your Information Check that your contact information, major, and application term are correct on your admission letter. If changes are needed, contact the Office of Admissions at 256.824.2773 or admissions@uah.edu. Fall/Winter Apply for Financial Aid To be considered for all types of federal aid, U.S. citizens and permanent residents should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at studentaid.gov using the UAH School Code (001055). Students planning to utilize VA education benefits should contact the Military and Veterans Programs Office at va@uah.edu or 256.824.2758. Apply for Housing All first-time, full-time freshman students with a permanent legal residence beyond a 30-mile radius from campus are required to live in on-campus residence halls their first year. You can explore all of UAH's on-campus living facilities on the Housing and Residence Life website. Register for housing using Housing & Residence Life's application portal. Get Connected on Social Media UAH Admissions Facebook UAH Admissions X Twitter UAH Admissions Instagram UAH Admissions YouTube UAH Admissions TikTok Spring Register for New Student Orientation New Student Orientation provides you the opportunity to meet with an academic advisor, register for classes, meet other new students, and more! Look for registration information to be sent early April for the summer and fall semesters and in November for the spring semester. Pay Your Enrollment Deposit Confirm your enrollment by submitting your $200 enrollment deposit. You will be sent more information about how to submit your deposit payment in the spring. The priority enrollment deposit deadline is May 1, 2025. Accept Your Scholarship and/or Financial Aid Accept or decline your scholarship and/or financial aid awards through your my.uah.edu account once your receive your official financial aid award package from the Office of Financial Aid. This information will be sent to your official @uah.edu email account. For step-by-step instructions, visit the Accept My Scholarship page. U.S. citizens and permanent residents who have not already applied for financial aid should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for federal aid using the UAH school code, 001055. Submit Your Final High School Transcript A final high school transcript, including your date of graduation, is due within four weeks of graduation. If the final official transcript is not received, you may become ineligible to register for courses or your schedule may be adjusted. You can send your official transcripts to UAH using Docufide/Parchment, Student Clearinghouse, Scoir, or ask your school to send your official hard-copy transcript to UAH Admissions, 301 Sparkman Drive, SSB, Suite 106, Huntsville, AL 35899. Submit Dual Enrollment/AP/IB/CLEP Credit To receive credit for dual enrollment courses, you will need to submit an official college transcript. To receive credit for Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), or College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams, official test scores must be sent by the testing agency. Visit CollegeBoard and use UAH school code 1854 for AP and CLEP, and visit IBO for IB. Once official transcripts and test scores have been received and evaluated, you may view your credit on your academic transcript through your my.uah.edu account. Determine Your Academic Placement Determine your academic placement for English, foreign language, math, or chemistry by reviewing our Academic Placement Guidelines. It is critical for students to take the right courses to set them on a path to success. Academic placement for new students is determined by your ACT/SAT results, AP/IB scores, and/or previous college credit. If you applied test optional or feel that your math placement needs to be re-evaluated, you have the option to take a Math Placement Test. We strongly advise finalizing your academic placement before attending New Student Orientation. Summer Select a Meal Plan Students are automatically assigned a meal plan based on whether they plan to live on-campus or off-campus. If you prefer the default meal plan, you do not have to submit a request or select a plan. Requests are only needed from students who prefer another meal plan other than the default plan. All requests must be submitted to the Charger Card Office no later than the last day of the 2nd week of classes each semester. All full-time, undergraduate students are required to have a meal plan. Learn about available options by visiting Dining Services. Submit Your Immunization Records Submit your immunization records using the Immunization Form and Tuberculosis Risk Questionnaire. For information or assistance, visit the Student Health Center, call 256.824.6978, or email immunizations@uah.edu. Apply for Student Disability Services If you have a disability that requires academic or physical accommodations, contact Disability Support Services at 256.824.6203 to file an application and set up a meeting to determine the appropriate accommodations. Set Up your Mobile Charger ID After you have registered for classes, follow our guidelines for creating your Mobile Charger ID, including submitting your ID photo and setting up your Charger ID credentials and multi-factor authentication. For more information about multi-factor authentication, please see "Access Your Online Services" above. Review Your Charger Course Pack Charger Course pack is a program designed to lower the cost of course materials and ensure students have access to all required materials by the first day of class. All undergraduate students are automatically enrolled into the program. Students have the option to opt out each semester during the opt-out window. For more information, visit uah.edu/bookstore. Register for a Parking Permit Visit parking.uah.edu to register your vehicle and order a parking permit. All students who plan to park a vehicle on campus must have a valid parking permit for the entire academic year. To see a full display of available campus parking, view the UAH campus map. Pay Your Bill or Enroll in a Payment Plan All charges are due on the first official day of class each semester. Please note that tuition bills are not mailed to students. Tuition and fee charges are added to accounts after course registration. Payment options can be viewed at uah.edu/bursar. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS International Students seeking a F-1 Visa should also follow the below steps as soon as possible upon admission. Both of these items must be completed before you can enter the United States. Request Your I-20 Follow the steps on the I-20 checklist included with your acceptance letter to locate the correct email and begin the process to request your I-20. Submit Your Visa Before you can enroll in your classes, you must submit proof of your Visa to isss@uah.edu.
