The University of Alabama in Huntsville has selected Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabamaas our new Student Health Insurance Plan carrier for the 2024-2025 plan year. The Student Health Center encourages all students to have health insurance to help minimize the costs of their health care. UAH offers a new fully underwritten health insurance plan with BlueCross and BlueShield of Alabama. Eligible UAH students can voluntarily enroll in the health plan during the Open Enrollment windows listed below. For more information and to enroll, visit uah.myahpcare.com. Open enrollment for the 2024-2025 academic year is active now for all eligible students: Domestic students, both undergraduate and graduate students, are eligible if they are enrolled in a minimum of nine semester hours in fall and spring or six semester hours in summer. They should live locally and not be in a fully online program. Graduate students on assistantship may choose to opt in to this plan and will subsequently be enrolled by their departments. They should not enroll themselves. All international students are automatically enrolled in this insurance plan at registration. J1 Scholars are required to provide proof of comparable insurance or purchase this insurance plan. International students should not enroll themselves. Eligible students who do enroll may also insure their dependents. Eligible dependents are the student’s legal spouse and dependent children under 26 years of age. Once you log-in to your AHP account there will be an option for "I want to Enroll" button to add a plan for a dependent. How do I get my insurance card? Once you enroll and pay for coverage, AHP will send your information to BCBS for enrollment. You will get email confirmation from AHP when your coverage is active. You will also get a welcome email from BCBS with instructions on how to log-in to your BCBS account and obtain an electronic ID card. Be sure to use your A-number for your student ID.
