In an effort to ensure the best opportunity for success, students are placed in an initial math course according to AP test scores, ACT/SAT scores in mathematics, their previous college credit (precalculus or higher), or the math placement exam.

For those who wish to be placed according to the placement exam, you must complete the exam prior to registration.

Students with various placement levels can begin their MA courses (depending on their major) as follows:

  • Level 0:  MA 106, MA 110S, or MA 112S
  • Level 1:  MA 107, MA 110, MA 112 or MA 150
  • Level 2:  MA 113, MA 120, MA 171S
  • Level 3:  MA 171

Students admitted with no test scores will be placed into one of the following courses depending upon their major: MA 105, MA 106, MA 107S, MA 110S, or MA 112S.
