Parent and Guest Orientation

Each of our Orientation programs has a concurrent Parent and Guest Orientation. We realize you are an important key to your student's success, so we offer sessions that will help you assist your student in preparing for college at UAH.

New students attending UAH for the Spring 2019 term should complete Spring Online Orientation. Orientation information and registration for students attending UAH for the Summer 2019 and Fall 2019 terms will be available soon! Parent programming will be provided during these orientation sessions.

What to Expect

Whether or not you have visited UAH previously, Orientation will provide you with new information, so be ready to take notes and ask questions. Orientation is a fun and spirited atmosphere packed with activity, so be sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes.

At Orientation you will:

  • Meet with UAH representatives who will provide academic and career counseling for your student
  • Discover university resources exclusively designed to ensure that your student has a successful college experience
  • Finalize all of your student's needs before the semester begins
  • Meet other Charger Family members

Parent & Family Programs

At Orientation you will hear more about the year-around programs and opportunities for you to engage with your student during their academic journey through Parent & Family Programs.

Registering for Orientation

When you and your student decide on the best session date, your student will need to register for Orientation through their existing Charger Status account. Orientation reservations must be made using each student's name. On the registration form, your student will have the opportunity to indicate if parents/guests will be attending Orientation with them.

Overnight Accommodations

Freshman Orientation is offered as a two-day session. Should you need overnight accommodations in Huntsville during your visit, check out our accommodations page for area hotels.

Orientation Fees

Freshman Orientation Fees

A charge of $225 will be included on each student's university bill payable when tuition is due at the start of the semester. This cost covers the student orientation fee and up to two guests. If a student wishes to bring more than two guests, there will be an additional fee of $50 per guest (over the age of 13) due at event check-in. The only orientation cost due on the day of the event is if a student has more than two guests attending Freshman Orientation.

Transfer Orientation Fees

Students attending Transfer On-Campus Orientation will be charged a $50 orientation fee that will be included on each student's university bill payable when tuition is due at the start of the semester. This cost covers the student orientation fee and up to two guests.

Helping Your Student Prepare

Help your student prepare by going through the Charger Checklist together! This checklist, along with orientation programming, will help answer all your questions and complete all the needed steps for a successful first year at UAH. Remind your student that orientation is important to their success, and encourage them to meet other students and take notes during the sessions.

Also, be sure to review the list of what to bring to orientation.
