Event Information

Charger Camp is a two-day event for new freshman students. All parent/guest programming will conclude on the evening of Day 1. 

Students have the opportunity to spend the night in an on-campus residence hall on Day 1 of Charger Camp.  Accommodation options available in the Huntsville area for parents and guests can be found HERE.

  • Charger Camp is an orientation program run through the Office of Admissions to acclimate new freshmen and transfer students to all aspects of UAH’s campus. Orientation programming introduces students to available resources that will aid in their transition to college academics, residential living, and other student involvement opportunities. Charger Camp helps ensure that students feel confident as they balance the new challenges of successfully adjusting to college life.

  • As soon as they’ve decided that they will be enrolling at UAH for the Fall 2025 semester! We encourage students to sign up as soon as possible as sessions fill up quickly!

  • Yes! We have scheduled specific programming and sessions on Day 1 of Charger Camp to help you feel comfortable as your student transitions from high school to college.

What else should parents know?

  • Make off campus overnight accommodations. Parents and guests will need to make off-campus overnight arrangements during Charger Camp. Only students will spend the night on campus.
  • Check the weather. Charger Camp goes on rain or shine, so bring an umbrella if needed. 
  • Be prepared. View the packing list for students HERE and directions HERE. Wear comfortable shoes, as you'll have the opportunity to explore campus during your time at Charger Camp.
  • Eat before the Welcome Session. The first meal provided at Charger Camp will be lunch at 12 pm. We suggest that you eat breakfast before arriving on campus. Be sure to grab a cup of coffee at the Welcome session. 
  • Explore Huntsville. Parent/guest sessions willl conclude on the evening of Day 1. When your student is enjoying Day 2 activities, we encourage you to explore the Rocket City. Visit huntsville.org to check out local activities and attractions. 
  • Chat with your student about class registration. Have a conversation with your student regarding class registration prior to Charger Camp. Only students will attend an advising session.
