Use this Charger Checklist to guide you as you prepare for your first semester at UAH! We recommend you complete your checklist before arriving on campus.

*Upon admission, we recommend prioritizing these checklist items first.

Within 30 Days of Being Admitted

  • Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication

Multi-factor authentication is required for all UAH students to access your online services, including your UAH email and student account. UAH utilizes two services for multi-factor authentication: Duo and Google 2-Step Verification. You will need to set up both services within 30 days of being admitted to avoid getting locked out of your student accounts. For more information and detailed instructions, visit the Office of Information of Technology's website.

    Access myUAH

To set up your myUAH account, UAH’s secure web portal, visit reset.uah.edu and follow the prompts to create your password. As a UAH student, you will use your myUAH account by visiting my.uah.edu to access campus information, accept or decline financial aid, register for classes, view your grades, see your academic transcript, and pay your bill.

Questions about the differences between your Charger Status and myUAH accounts? Learn more on the Charger Status vs myUAH webpage.

If an emergency arises that impacts you as an individual, the university will refer to your emergency contact information. It is important to enter a parent or family member's contact information under "Personal Information" in your my.uah.edu account.

    Access Your UAH Email

To access your UAH email account (@uah.edu), visit mail.uah.edu and enter your Charger email address as the username and your myUAH password.

    Verify Your Information

Check that your contact information, major, and application term are correct on your admission letter. If changes are needed, contact the Office of Admissions at 256.824.2773 or admissions@uah.edu.

Orientation and Advising

Important Update

We're excited to announce that UAH is moving to a new and improved online application portal! New transfer students who are admitted prior to March 21  will need to create a Charger Status account in our new portal in order to register for New Student Orientation. An email will be sent to you upon admission with information detailing how to access your new account.

  • Transfer students have the option of completing Transfer Online Orientation or attending an in-person Transfer Orientation. All transfer students should complete their orientation of choice before the first day of classes.

  • Once your transfer credit evaluation has been completed, connect with an academic advisor in the college of your major to discuss class selection. The transcript evaluation process typically takes 7-10 business days after you have been admitted. You will receive notification via email when your transfer credit evaluation is complete, and you will be able to view your transfer credits on your academic transcript through your myUAH account.

Please note, transfer students majoring in a program in the College of Engineering should utilize the Pre-PARE Canvas course to start the class registration process. Through this course, you will learn about the classes that you will need to take during your first semester, have an opportunity to work with an advisor, and receive all the information on how to register for your classes. You will receive an email invitation to this Canvas course within two weeks of acceptance.

Finances and Scholarships

Student Services

  • Students are automatically assigned a meal plan based on if they plan to live on-campus or off-campus. If you prefer the default meal plan, you do not have to submit a request or select a plan. Requests are only needed from students who prefer another meal plan option or an upgrade. All requests must be submitted to the Charger Card Office no later than the last day of the 2nd week of classes each semester. All full-time, undergraduate students are required to have a meal plan. Learn about available options by visiting Dining Services.

  • Submit your immunization records and answer the Tuberculosis Risk Questionnaire online using the Charger Health Portal. For information or assistance, visit the Student Health Center, call 256.824.6948, or email immunizations@uah.edu.

  • UAH offers a fully underwritten optional health insurance plan with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. Students can voluntarily enroll in the health plan during the Open Enrollment windows listed on the website. All international students are automatically enrolled in the plan unless proof of comparable insurance is provided.

  • If you have a disability that requires academic or physical accommodations, contact Disability Support Services at 256.824.6203 to file an application and set up a meeting to determine the appropriate accommodations.

  • After you have registered for classes, follow our guidelines for creating your Mobile Charger ID, including submitting your ID photo and setting up your Charger ID credentials and multi-factor authentication.

For more information about multi-factor authentication, please see "Access Your Online Services" below.

  • Visit parking.uah.edu to register your vehicle and order a parking permit. All students who plan to park a vehicle on campus must have a valid parking permit for the entire academic year.

To see a full display of available campus parking, visit the UAH campus map page.

Academics

If you are currently enrolled at another institution, you must submit a final copy of your transcript to the Office of Admissions as soon as possible to ensure timely evaluation of transfer credit. If the final official transcript is not received, you may become ineligible to register for courses or your schedule may be adjusted. Upon admission, transcript evaluations will be completed as early as possible. This process typically takes 7-10 business days after you have been admitted. You will receive a notification via the email account you provide on your application for admission and your official UAH email account when the evaluation is complete. Once your transfer credit evaluation is complete, you may view your credit on your Academic Transcript through your my.uah.edu account.

Charger Course pack is a program designed to lower the cost of course materials and ensure students have access to all required materials by the first day of class. All undergraduate students are automatically enrolled into the program. Students have the option to opt out each semester during the opt-out window. For more information, visit uah.edu/bookstore.
