Getting Started
Minimal set up is required to use your Charger Card Mobile ID. Most users can begin using their Charger Card Mobile ID on their phone in minutes by downloading the app. An approved photo is required and all Students, Faculty, and Staff with a Charger ID are encouraged to utilize their Charger Card Mobile ID. Photos will generally be approved within one business day; photos can also be taken in the Charger Card office (CGU 131) during business hours without an appointment.
Looking for an Alumni Card?
Alumni Cards are available at no cost by visiting the Charger Card Office, submitting a Request to Mail Physical Card Form, or emailing us at chargercard@uah.edu.
At this time, only physical Alumni Cards are available; there is no Mobile Alumni Card.

Do I need a physical Charger Card?
With Charger Card Mobile ID, a physical Charger Card is not required. Most smartphones with NFC technology are compatible. Certain programs and campus departments require program-specific physical IDs (nursing student badges, OIT employee badges, etc.). Departments should let employees/students know if this is a requirement or not. A physical Charger Card is available for students for a fee of $25 per print.
How do I update the information displaying on my Charger Card?
Students should complete a Name Change Form at the Registrar’s Office. Faculty and staff should present supporting documentation to Human Resources (hr@uah.edu) to request updates. Once changes are completed, the updates will sync to the Charger Card Mobile ID on your phone within 48 hours.
What should I do if I lose my mobile device or physical Charger Card?
Please notify the Charger Card office immediately by phone 256-824-2720 or in person in Charger Union room 131. We will freeze the ID and access privileges until a replacement can be secured. A $25.00 replacement fee will be charged to your student account for reprinting a physical card. If after hours and for safety or security issues, contact the Office of Public Safety at 256-824-6596.
Can anyone else use my Charger Card?
No, you should never lend your card to anyone.
What if my Mobile ID / Charger Card does not work or gets damaged?
Please visit the Charger Card Office. For physical cards, the magnetic strip's encoding is sometimes erased or is not programmed correctly. Depending on the circumstances, a $25.00 fee may be charged if a physical replacement is necessary. Please take care of your Mobile ID/Charger Card's physical condition, keeping them away from abrasive materials and other devices with a magnetic field.
