Nationally recognized motivational speaker, life coach, and author Pete Mockaitis, will give the keynote address at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) Student Leadership Conference on Saturday, Feb. 7.

The "Vision for Change" conference held in the university's Shelby Center for Science and Technology from 9 a.m., to 3 p.m., will provide students with the opportunity to attend multiple presentations on various leadership topics. This year the conference is offering special presentations on social justice issues. The conference is open to all students, including those from surrounding North Alabama universities and colleges. Lunch will also be provided for those who RSVP (kacey.schaum@uah.edu) by Friday, Jan. 30. The UAH Student Life Office sponsors the annual event.

Pete Mockaitis is the President of Optimality LLC (www.PeteMockaitis.com) in Chicago. He has served clients in more than 30 countries, led nine student organizations, and has written two books, The Student Leader's Field Guide (2006), and Team Up: Becoming Accountable to Your Dreams (2009).

Having led several student organizations, Mockaitis believes students can make tremendous impact right now - rather than waiting for later, "when they become leaders." He began his "real-world" career at the Bridgespan Group, and the Bain Company, considered one of the most prestigious consulting firms in the country.

Mockaitis holds degrees in organizational administration and finance, graduating magna cum laude, from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is also a certified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® Practitioner.
