Biological Sciences

The Biological Sciences Department researches and teaches how the collective behavior of molecules and cells forms the basis of life. This is where science breaks disciplinary boundaries against a backdrop of cutting-edge biological research.

A natural science with a broad scope.

BYS can be found in the Shelby Center for Science and Technology alongside classrooms, labs, and a rooftop greenhouse and also across the state at the City of Huntsville’s greenways, Hays Nature Preserve’s native species re-establishment project, and along the Gulf Coast researching marine science at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab.
