The University of Alabama in Huntsville is committed to maintaining a supportive, educational environment that enhances the well-being and campus experience of all members of our community. This commitment reflects the University’s adherence to its mission, its policies supporting that mission, and relevant state and federal laws. Consistent with that commitment, the University firmly opposes hazing and remains committed to providing information and resources to help students end hazing for good. The University’s Hazing policy may be found on the University’s policy page. The policy defines hazing consistent with state and federal laws. Additionally, the policy outlines the multiple ways members of the campus community can report suspected incidents of hazing. The University also provides a robust training program on the topic of hazing. All faculty, staff, and new students to the University are required to complete an online training module aimed at equipping our community with the information necessary to recognize and prevent hazing. During student orientation, all new students also receive information on the University’s hazing policy and methods of reporting hazing incidents. Additionally, each fall the Division of Student Affairs hosts a national hazing prevention speaker on campus in an event that is open to all students. The event equips students with additional tools necessary to identify and prevent hazing and highlights the multiple reporting mechanisms available to students to report allegations of hazing. Additional information related to hazing and general campus safety may be found on the UAH Police webpage.
