Biography

Emily gained her clinical experience in various settings, including inpatient and outpatient treatment centers. She began her career working in a residential treatment facility for adolescents and held various positions throughout her tenure, allowing her the opportunity to broaden her skills in group and individual therapy. Later, she worked in a hospital setting, giving her extensive experience in crisis intervention with clients of all ages and a broad spectrum of diagnoses. Additionally, she has worked with a variety of substance abuse programs with clients of all ages. Over the years, Emily has had experience with clients of various socioeconomic, age, and gender differences having interpersonal problems, life transitions, grief and trauma issues, academic development matters, and emotional/behavioral concerns.

Counseling Philosophy: Emily views counseling and therapy as a personal journey of self-exploration to enhance a client's sense of self-worth and to help them function successfully in today's culture. Clients need to grow in their level of self-understanding and self-awareness. As a counselor, she does not act as a self-appointed expert, but rather a guide to enhance the experience and allow the clients to improve their insight and new tools to gain a more positive outlook on life and their general situation. She strives to offer new perspectives to her clients and help identify, develop, and mobilize a client's resources to successfully solve their own problems and meet the challenges they face head on.
