Dr. Chang-kwon Kang, an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UAH, was awarded a three-year, $276,876 grant by the National Science Foundation (NSF) for his proposal entitled "Dynamics and Control of Long Range Micro Air Vehicles Inspired by Monarch Butterflies." The project will study the biomechanics of monarch butterfly flight, with the goal of creating engineered flight vehicles with unprecedented capabilities.
