Kinesiology Chair named to NCAA Division II Management Council

UAH College of Education's Kinesiology Department Chair Dr. Jeremy Elliott was recently named to the NCAA Division II Management Council. He will serve a 4-year term beginning January 2023. The Management Council is a 28 person committee responsible for recommending policies and regulations that govern athletics at the Division II level. Further duties of the committee include reviewing and implementing recommendations from specialized committees within the Division II structure, as well as staffing those committees.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to represent UAH and the Gulf South Conference on the Management Council,” said Dr. Elliott. “Though I have only served as Faculty Athletic Representative at UAH for a short period of time, I realize that collegiate athletics is at a pivotal point in its history. I look forward to working with the council to help prepare Division II athletics for the future.”

The Management Council is made of representatives from each athletic conference within Division II with two at-large seats, as well as an independent representative. Representation must include at least 4 athletic directors, 4 senior women administrators, 4 faculty athletic representatives, and 1 conference administrator. In addition to serving on the Council, Dr. Elliott will be required to serve on other general committees within the make-up of Division II athletics.

“It will be a welcome challenge. I know there is a lot for me to learn, but I think my background and experiences at both UAH and previously will help. I’m greatly looking forward to it,” said Dr. Elliott.

Dr. Elliott has been a member of the Department of Kinesiology at UAH since 2015. In 2021, he began serving as the Chair of the department and also began his term as the UAH Faculty Athletic Representative. In this capacity, he also serves as the chair of the UAH Interscholastic Athletic Committee.
