UAH will conduct a test of the UAlert Notification System on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. The test will allow UAH to evaluate the system and allow campus users to become accustomed to receiving alert messages from UAH. UAlert is a communications solution that allows the University to quickly disseminate urgent messages through multiple methods including:

  • Voice messages to mobile, home, and office phones
  • Text messages to mobile phones
  • Email messages
  • UAH and UAH Police Facebook pages
  • UAH (@UAHuntsville) and UAH UAlert(@UAH_UAlert) Twitter Feeds
  • RSS (http://www.getrave.com/rss/uah/channel1)
  • Rave Guardianmobile app
  • In-building voice notification systems
  • Outdoor "giant voice" speaker arrays

For more information on UAlert please visit www.uah.edu/ualert. UAH will test each of these systems simultaneously on January 25. UAH has partnered with Rave Alert for sending UAlert notifications via email, text, and phone. If you wish to receive voice or text messages on a mobile device, you should add or update your primary cell phone number through the process described below. Your official UAH email address is automatically enrolled in UAlert. You are also encouraged to download and configure the Rave Guardian mobile app (available for iOS and Android operating systems). To add or update a primary cell phone for UAlert calls and/or texting, visit myUAH (my.uah.edu):

Under the STUDENT SERVICES heading (students only) or the EMPLOYEE SERVICES heading (employees only), click on PERSONAL INFORMATION in the Self Service Main Pages section. Then select PERSONAL DETAIL. Scroll to the PHONE NUMBER section. If you have an Emergency Notification number listed, you may edit it by selecting the pencil icon. If you do not have an Emergency Notification number, you can enter one by following these steps:

  1. Click the "Add New" icon in the upper right of the Phone Number Section;
  2. Select "Emergency Notification - Cell" from the Phone Type drop-down menu;
  3. Enter the area code and phone number;
  4. Click the "Add" button;
  5. Verify that the "Emergency Notification - Cell" entry is now displayed in the Phone Number section.

If your office phone number is not correct in the Rave Alert portal or in myUAH, employees may update that information by logging into the OIT Portal (https://oitportal.uah.edu) and accessing the “Directory” tab.

NOTE to all users: Please wait at least 24 hours after adding your cell phone to Banner and then log into the Rave portal (http://www.getrave.com/login/uah) and follow the prompts under the “Mobile Phones” heading to confirm your cell number. This will allow Rave to send text messages to your mobile device.You may add additional phone, text, and email accounts by visiting the Rave Alert portal at http://www.getrave.com/login/uah. Your Charger ID and password will allow you to access the portal. If you require assistance accessing or updating your UAlert contact preferences, please contact the UAH OIT Helpdesk (256-824-3333 or helpdesk@uah.edu).
