Here are the October headlines from the Staff Senate meeting this month.

  • The Student Success Center is recruiting student employees for the spring semester. If any students are interested, please have them contact the SSC!
  • The Morton Hall project is progressing and is expected to be re-opened in the Fall of 2020. The Spragins Hall project is on schedule to be completed in December of 2019.
  • The Wellness Program Incentive deadline is October 31st. Participants can receive up to $100. Please note: the health assessment, biometric screening, and Gilsbar additional point earnings are all requirements to receive the incentive. Click for details: https://www.uah.edu/hr/wellness
  • October 25-26: Family Weekend (events can be found by visiting: https://www.uah.edu/parent-family-programs/parent-family-events/fall-family-weekend). Volunteers needed! Please sign up at: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1X8srWrxHFGvNGmbh7jc5lzv1Hlw1y44C8UN_zGIl4AY  
  • The food truck Beast Mode has been added to campus this semester. They are set up at the Library parking lot on Mondays and at Tech Hall on Tuesdays. Along with normal cash and credit card payments, they also accept Dining Dollars, Charger Bucks, and Flex.
  • November 11th – 15th is National Career Development Week. There is at least one career-related event happening each day during the week. Events will be in Charger Path and posted to the Events calendar.
  • The Service and Outreach Committee is working on securing an event space to hold Special Olympics on campus in the spring.
  • The Events Committee has begun the planning process of Take Your Child to Work Day. The location will be officially announced, but as of today, it will take place at SWIRLL.
  • The Campus and Community Relations committee met with campus officials to discuss getting card access to academic buildings after hours to promote safety.
