Dean of Students

During the early fall 2018 semester, Mr. T.J. Brecciaroli served as Dean of Students with responsibilities for Student Ethics and Education and Military and Veterans Programs. He left UAH in October 2018. Following his departure, Dr. Ronnie Hebert, Sr. Director for Student Affairs, assumed the aforementioned responsibilities in addition to his oversight of Student Life, Career Services, Health Services, and Campus Recreation.

Additionally, the University Fitness Center, which was previously managed by Fitness Management Associates, Inc., transitioned to University management as a component of Campus Recreation under the direction of the Director of Campus Recreation, Ms. Sabrina Blackwood, who reports to Dr. Hebert.

Dr. Hebert joined UAH in December 2017 to work with students on the gap between Student Life, Greek Life and Student Success. Dr. Hebert earned a BS in Psychology and an MEd in Counseling and Personnel Services, both from The University of Southern Mississippi, and the EdD in Higher Education Administration from The University of Alabama. His background includes extensive work on student success, retention, first-year initiatives and parent programs. These are all essential components needed to meet the needs of our students as we transition to a more traditional residential campus. Dr. Hebert has experience in all of these areas coming from The University of Southern Mississippi, The University of Alabama and Calhoun Community College.

Dr. Hebert’s overall responsibilities are a usual comprehensive set of responsibilities for the position of Dean of Students, a title UAH has used for a number of years, and with which the UAH community is familiar. After consultation with the leadership of the Student Government Association, Dr. Hebert’s title is being changed to Dean of Students with the responsibilities he has as noted.

Mr. Scott Royce, formerly Director of Residence Life, now serves as Assistant Dean of Students having responsibilities for Charger 360. He also serves as Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Students.

Housing

Mr. John Maxon, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, is now serving as Director of Housing. In addition to Housing, Mr. Maxon is responsible for Counseling Services, Charger Union/Conference Training Center, Residence Life, Charger Card, Food Services and the Bevill Center, and the University Bookstore.
