Research Horizons Day

Nineteen research projects, and the students who conducted the work, were awarded at the recent COVID-19 modified Research Horizons Day Poster Session at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH).

Because UAH is closed due to COVID-19, it was not possible for judges to talk to presenters face-to-face at a poster session, so each college carried on with the competition by judging the posters submitted for the event by graduate and undergraduate students.

"Dissemination of research and creative projects is an important part of inquiry-based learning, so events like Research Horizons are important because they give our students a chance to share what they have been working on," says David Cook, director of undergraduate research at UAH.

"Unfortunately, this year we were unable to give students the chance to present their posters in person, so we have created a YouTube channel and invited participants to submit videos of an ‘elevator pitch’ for their projects," Cook says. "As the site is populated with videos, we will share a link so that UAH and the community can have a chance to hear directly from the students."
