UAH political science students who went to Washington DC to fight international child abduction

UAH political science students and Dr. Noelle Hunter traveled to Washington DC in September 2021 to meet U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville and present their research at an international conference on child abduction.

Mission

The International Child Abduction Prevention and Research Office (ICAPRO) advances data-informed solutions to the global problem of International Parental Child Abduction (IPCA). ICAPRO is an interdisciplinary research and practice initiative to improve IPCA prevention, response, and resolution.

Our research outputs will inform decision making, education, training, and programming across multiple stakeholder groups including: governments, domestic and international policymakers, the legal community, law enforcement, children and family advocacy groups, diplomatic missions, civil society, and nonprofit organizations.

Impact

ICAPRO exists to:

  • Update and expand the body of literature on a multifaceted public policy problem
  • Advance data-informed research to improve federal, state, and local performance
  • Facilitate international collaborations to holistically address IPCA
  • Enhance IPCA prevention and resolution
