The College of Science is pleased to announce that the University of Alabama in Huntsville has become an institutional partner of the Association
for Women in Science (AWIS).

AWIS is the largest multi-disciplinary organization for women in STEM dedicated to achieving equity and full participation of women in all disciplines and across all employment sectors. As a result of UAH’s partnership with AWIS, 10 staff/faculty and all interested postdoctoral researchers and
undergraduate/graduate students enrolled in a STEM program are eligible to receive a FREE one-year membership in AWIS.

Follow the steps below to set up a membership account with AWIS:

  1. Go to http://awis.org/uah 
  2. If you are a student: Select “Collegiate Representative” from the two options available and click Continue
  3. If you are faculty/staff: Select “Institution Employee” from the two options available and click Continue
  4. Complete the registration form and submit
  5. Once you’ve registered, you can login from the homepage at www.awis.org

AWIS members have access to a number of programs and services:

  • AWIS Magazine, an award-winning magazine – covering research, workplace trends, career advancement andour work in Washington, DC. This is distributed electronically on a quarterly basis.
  • Washington Wire, a monthly e-newsletter providing a digest of “hot-topic” articles covering careers,education, science and technology work-life satisfaction, health, events and opportunities.
  • The AWIS Insider, a monthly e-newsletter providing updates on AWIS initiatives, programs and services as well as their advocacy efforts.
  • Invitation to attend special events which are held at the national and local levels, including their popular What’s Next Webinar Series. As a member you’ll be able to register for future live webinars for free as well as access the recording from past webinars.
  • Access to the AWIS Career Center and two virtual career fairs each year.
