UAH welcomes Tang as Chief Information Officer

Danny Tang Chief Information Officer

The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), part of The University of Alabama System, has named Danny Tang as its chief information officer, effective February 17, 2025.

“I am thrilled to welcome Danny to our campus. He brings broad experience and an innovative approach that will be crucial as we continue to advance our information technology infrastructure to better serve the UAH community,” said Dr. Charles L. Karr, President at UAH. “He understands how to navigate a complex, research-intensive university environment, and I am confident that his vision and leadership will help the university achieve its strategic priorities.”

Tang has more than twenty years’ experience in higher education information technology (IT). As a senior IT executive at numerous institutions. He has held responsibility for a broad spectrum of IT services, including academic and research computing, administrative and student information services, business intelligence and analytics, telephony, user support services, network operations and cybersecurity. Most recently, Tang served as associate vice president and chief information officer at Furman University in Greenville, SC.

He is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he earned a B.S. in aerospace engineering. He received an M.S. in analytics from Georgia Institute of Technology. He is an active member of the IT Manager Development Institute where he serves as board member, facilitator and coach.
