"Meet and Greet" event for UAH and AAUW’s Tech Trek JUN 06, 2014 | Joyce Anderson-Maples HUNTSVILLE,Ala. (June 9, 2014) — The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) and the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will welcome 50 rising eighth grade girls and their families to the university's campus next week in preparation for Tech Trek camp. The girls, from around the state of Alabama were selected after a competitive application process, to attend Alabama's first Tech Trek camp, to be held on the UAH campus July 20-25. On Saturday, June 14, the girls will have a chance to "meet and greet" one another and learn more about their coming camp experience at the university. Tech Trek, developed by AAUW, is a week-long residential summer camp for middle school girls, featuring hands-on learning activities in the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields. Through Tech Trek, girls are immersed in a world that empowers and encourages them to think about themselves as future scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and computer specialists.
