February 10, 2025 Cadets from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) and Alabama A&M Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) recently competed in the 6th Brigade Army ROTC “Titan” Ranger Challenge. Held at Fort Moore, Georgia, the two-day event challenged both the mental and physical endurance of the participants. On Day 1, competitors faced seven graded warrior skills stations, each designed to assess different aspects of their combat readiness. The team covered over a half marathon of rucking miles, navigating through various terrains. As the night approached, the mental challenge continued with a complex land navigation exercise that required quick thinking and problem-solving under pressure. Day 2 brought even more intense challenges. Following a timed 6-mile ruck, the team engaged in a shooting simulator exercise, where precision and focus were key, followed by a call-for-fire drill that required both teamwork and tactical decision-making. The cadets improved their ranking by 8 places from 2024. "I am proud of our cadets’ performance,” says LTC Early Howard, Jr., professor of military science. “It truly showcases their hard work, determination, and growth since last year. As the senior members of the team, they lead by example, and their commitment not only elevates their own performance but also sets a high standard for new recruits to follow and aspire to."
