New Employee Training

 All newly hired employees are required to complete the web-based training courses listed below within the first 30 days of employment.

Required Training

Mosaic: Prevent Discrimination and Harassment Together: Faculty and Staff

This course covers the basics, including scenarios designed to help you navigate common trouble areas.  The web-based training can be completed in approximately 40 minutes.

Understanding the Clery Act

This 15 minute course is a short overview of the Clery Act examining how it works, and how it helps make our campus safer.

Other Required Training

FERPA: Protecting Student Privacy

This course covers the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and is designed to help learners know when (and when not) to release student records. FERPA training is required for those that will utilize Ellucian Banner (Student, Payroll or Human Resources modules).

Drivers Safety 

This course shares tips on proper preparation, good driving habits, and how to eliminate driving distractions. Driver Safety Training is required for those that drive University owned vehicles.

State of Alabama Ethics 

The Alabama Legislature passed legislation which requires all public employees who file a Statement of Economic Interests (SEI) form to complete an online educational review of the Alabama Ethics Law. The educational review video is 55 minutes in length.

Upon completion of the Ethics training video, print the Certificate of Completion and email a copy to hr@uah.edu.

Cybersecurity Annual Training

All faculty and staff are required to complete cybersecurity training each calendar year. The course will help you understand your role in cybersecurity for UAH, common threats all UAH employees face, legal requirements for cybersecurity protection measures, and develop awareness of warning signs that can point to an attack.

      How to complete the training:

    1. Visit the Canvas All Courses page: https://canvas.uah.edu/courses.
    2. Select UAH Cyber Awareness Training for the calendar year.
    3. Follow the assignments in order from top to bottom using the "Next" button at the bottom to assist you.
    4. Make sure to complete the Completion Quiz at the end of the course.
