Apply Now The following information applies to new Fall 2024-Spring 2025 applicants only. The 2024-2025 housing application for incoming new first year students will be available in the student's Residential Self-Service on Tuesday, December 5th, at 8AM CST. All incoming first year students are required to live on campus unless they live within the 30 mile radius or receive an approved exemption. Review First Year Housing Requirement for further information. The Spring 2024 housing contract is currently available in the student's Residential Self-Service. New Student Housing Process Guide Step 1: Complete the Housing Contract Below is important information about the housing contract. You must be admitted to the University in order to submit a housing contract. A $125 nonrefundable application fee is required before you can submit your housing contract. Application fees are not covered by Loans, Grants, or Scholarships. In this process, you will be asked to sign the 2024-2025 Student Room/Food Service Contract. The contract is a legal, binding document for the entire academic year (Fall and Spring semesters), lasting nine months. For Spring 2024 students, you are signing a housing contract only for the spring semester. If you are under the age of 19, a parent or guardian will be required to complete the parental verification form sent via email. This has to be completed in order to receive a housing assignment at a later date. If you submit a housing contract and then decide not to attend UAH, cancellation fees will be assessed. You can review this policy here. Watch this video about completing step one of the first-year student housing process. Step 2: Finding a Roommate (Optional) We have partnered with MyCollegeRoomie (MCR) to offer our students an opportunity to connect with each other and search for roommates. Students will receive a welcome email from MCR approximately 24 hours after the contract has been submitted. Students will make roommate matches directly in the software and they will be sent to our housing staff. New first year students will have access to MCR starting mid-February. Students will need to look out in their UAH student email for the welcome email. Download MyCollegeRoomie from your mobile device's app store to easily use the platform. You will then be able to set up a profile, answer the questionnaire, and begin connecting with other resident students! Already have a desired roommate in mind? No problem! You can search for that person in MyCollegeRoomie and match with them there. If your chosen roommate is not appearing in the search results, likely, they have not completed the housing contract yet or they have never logged into MyCollegeRoomie to complete a profile. Check with them to make sure it is complete before contacting our office. We encourage you to take the roommate matching search into your own hands! If you do not participate in the MyCollegeRoomie matching process, you will be assigned random roommates. Step 3: Housing Assignment The UAH Housing office will alert all first year students of their housing assignments in mid-June. We will communicate this information to the student’s UAH email address. We recommend checking that email regularly as it is the main form of communication used by the University. First Year students are auto assigned by a staff member in our office according to living preferences provided in their housing contract. Students that apply for housing for Spring 2024 will be alerted of their housing assignment in mid-November. Housing Waitlist Procedure Our office manages a waiting list for any new non-first year student wanting to live on campus. There is limited on campus space available for any new student who is not required to live on campus. Below is the waitlist process. You will need to log into your myUAH account and navigate to Residential Self-Service located under the Student Services Card. You will add yourself to the 24-25 Housing Waitlist under the Room Selection/Waitlist section. You can view your position on the list after you have added your name. You can remove yourself from the list at any point on this same page. If you remove yourself and then you need to be added back to the list, you will go to the bottom of the waiting list. When our staff starts working through the list, you will receive an email via UAH student email address notifying you that a spot is available. You will have 48 hours to complete the New Student Housing contract to receive the assignment. If you must have a parental verification of your contract, this must be completed within the 48 hour period as well. If you decline the offer, your name will be removed from the list. If you do not respond, your name will be placed at the bottom of the waiting list. Note, once you sign the housing contract, you are signing a legal, binding document for the entire academic year. If you need to request a cancellation of your contract, you can find the process on our Appeals & Cancellation page.
