Apply Now

For the purpose of this application, please use the following definitions as you continue, making sure you are following the appropriate process for YOU.

Definitions:

First Time in College (FTIC): incoming students that will be attending college for the first time ever as they enter UAH in the Fall semester (generally have just graduated from high school).

New Student: incoming students who have never attended UAH or are transferring to UAH or students who have attended UAH previously but are choosing to reside on campus for the first time.

The 2024-2025 housing application for incoming new students is available in My College Roomie Housing. All incoming FTIC students are required to live on campus unless they live within the 30 mile radius or receive an approved exemption. Review First Year Housing Requirement for further information. FTIC students do not sign up on the waitlist.

New Student Housing Process Guide

Below is important information about the housing contract.

  • You must be admitted to the University in order to submit a housing contract. Students will receive a Welcome Email to our housing software, My College Roomie Housing, once admitted to their UAH student email address.
  • A $125 nonrefundable application fee is required before you can submit your housing contract. Application fees are not covered by Loans, Grants, or Scholarships.
  • In this process, you will be asked to sign the 2024-2025 Student Room/Food Service Contract. The contract is a legal, binding document for the entire academic year (Fall and Spring semesters), lasting nine months.
  • For Spring only students, you are signing a housing contract only for the spring semester.
  • If you are under the age of 19, a parent or guardian will be required to complete the parental verification form sent via email. This has to be completed in order to receive a housing assignment at a later date.
  • If you submit a housing contract and then decide not to attend UAH, cancellation fees will be assessed. You can review this policy here.

Complete your First Year Housing Contract

Once a housing contract is completed, the student will automatically be added to a roommate matching group in My College Roomie Housing (MCRH). Students can access roommate matching through the MyCollegeRoomie app or on a laptop. Students will need to set up their profile and answer the questionnaire before they can start searching for roommates.

Already have a desired roommate in mind? No problem! You can search for that person in MCRH and match with them there. If your chosen roommate is not appearing in the search results, likely, they have not completed the housing contract yet or they have never logged into MCRH. Check with them to make sure it is complete before contacting our office.

We encourage you to take the roommate matching search into your own hands! If you do not participate in the roommate matching process, you will be assigned random roommates.

The UAH Housing office will alert all first year students of their housing assignments in mid-June. We will communicate this information to the student’s UAH email address. We recommend checking that email regularly as it is the main form of communication used by the University. First Year students are auto assigned by a staff member in our office according to living preferences provided in their housing contract.

Housing Waitlist Procedure

Our office manages a waiting list for any new student wanting to live on campus who are not FTIC students. There is limited on campus space available for any new student who is not required to live on campus. Below is the waitlist process.

  • You will need to log into your myUAH account and navigate to Residential Self-Service located under the Student Services Card.
  • You will add yourself to the 24-25 Housing Waitlist under the Room Selection/Waitlist section.
    • You can view your position on the list after you have added your name.
    • You can remove yourself from the list at any point on this same page. If you remove yourself and then you need to be added back to the list, you will go to the bottom of the waiting list.
  • When our staff starts working through the list, you will receive an email via UAH student email address notifying you that a spot is available. You will have 48 hours to complete the New Student Housing contract to receive the assignment. If you must have a parental verification of your contract, this must be completed within the 48 hour period as well.
    • If you decline the offer, your name will be removed from the list.
    • If you do not respond, your name will be placed at the bottom of the waiting list.

Note, once you sign the housing contract, you are signing a legal, binding document for the entire academic year. If you need to request a cancellation of your contract, you can find the process on our Appeals & Cancellation page.
