esri-sandiegoMS Earth System Science student Africa Flores shares information to Esri User Conference participants in San Diego on programs at the UAHuntsville Graduate School. Africa and another ESS grad student Eric Anderson also gave presentations at the Esri Education conference on teaching remote sensing for environmental monitoring and disaster management in Central America through the SERVIR program, and using how GIS is an effective way to prepare study abroad students for new environments. They also presented posters on various geospatial analyses on water quality, hurricanes and landslides for Guatemala and El Salvador.

The Esri International User Conference, held every year at the San Diego Convention Center, brings together some 15,000 GIS users to learn the latest technology and interact with other researchers and practitioners.
