Chung Distinguished Professor Emeritus, MAE Contact 301 Sparkman DriveHuntsville, AL 35899 Campus Map 256.824.6394chungt@uah.edu Biography Dr. Chung served as an instructor of engineering at the Korea Military Academy from 1954 to 1959. He studied at Oklahoma State University and obtained MS and PhD degrees in applied mechanics in 1961 and l964, respectively. He served as Chairman of the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at The University of Alabama in Huntsville from 1978 to 1982 and as Director of Engineering at The University of Alabama in Huntsville from 1981 to 1982. He has made contributions to several areas of engineering science such as in continuum mechanics (three text books), computational fluid dynamics (two text books), three-dimensional radiative heat flux integral analysis [Journal of Heat Transfer, 1984], entropy-controlled combustion instability [Journal of Acoustic Society of America, 1994], flowfield-dependent variation theory [Int. J. Numer. Meth. Fluids, 1999], and computational relativistic astrophysical flows [Astrophysical Journal, 2002]. Retired from teaching since 2009, he is currently working on two books "Computational Plasma Dynamics in Nuclear Fusion" and "Quantum Gravity."
