The following lists the approved courses for the different science elective tracks in chemical engineering. At least 7 total credit hours of elective courses are required. If there are issues regarding prerequisites for any of these courses, please discuss them with your advisor.

Students taking the Biotechnology CHE electives should take the Biochemistry Science Elective tract, and those taking the Materials Engineering CHE electives take the Physical Chemistry Science Elective tract.

The Science Electives should be taken in the JUNIOR year.

Biochemistry

  • CH 361 (3 credit hours) - General Biochemistry I
  • CH 362 (1 credit hour) - General Biochemistry Lab I
  • CH 363 (3 credit hours) General Biochemistry II - offered Spring semesters only

Physical Chemistry (for those graduating under 2001 catalog or later)

  • CH 440 (3 credit hours) - Polymer Chemistry - offered Fall semesters only (exception: Spring, 2003)
  • CH 342 (3 credit hours) - Chemical Dynamics - offered Spring semesters only
  • CH 346 (1 credit hour) - Experimental Physical Chemistry - offered Spring Semesters only

Physical Chemistry (for students graduating under 2000 Catalog or earlier, that took MAE 341 instead of CH 341 in the Chemical Engineering tract)

  • CH 341 (3 credit hours) - Chemical Thermodynamics - offered Fall semesters only
  • CH 342 (3 credit hours) - Chemical Dynamics - offered Spring semesters only
  • CH 346 (1 credit hour) - Experimental Physical Chemistry - offered Spring Semesters only
