Dr. Ying Zou

Assistant Professor, CSPAR

Biography

Dr. Zou’s research interests mainly focus on the Earth’s magnetosphere, ionosphere, and upper atmosphere, and their dependence on the upstream solar wind. She has been actively studying magnetic reconnection, plasma convection, auroral dynamics, and thermosphere circulation using a combination of spacecraft and ground-based radars, imagers, magnetometers, Fabry-Perot interferometers, etc. She is particularly interested in phenomena that have space weather effects. She joined the department of Space Science as an assistant professor in Fall 2019. Before that she was a Jack Eddy postdoc fellow at Center for Space Physics at Boston University.
