He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Space Science at UAH in December 2020 under the supervision of Dr. Nikolai Pogorelov. Talwinder works on magnetohydrodynamic simulations of the solar wind and coronal mass ejections with the goal of operational space weather predictions. Talwinder is currently involved in the NSF and NASA funded "Space Weather with Quantified Uncertainties" program. Talwinder is the recipient of the NASA Earth and Space Science Fellowship in 2018 and the CSPAR Science Achievement Award in 2019.
