He has contributed to the theory of magnetic reconnection, MHD/plasma waves & thermal convection/zonal flows in plasmas and to the kinetic theory of particle acceleration and transport, particularly in a turbulent environment. He has over 60 publications in these fields, with a highly cited series of works on turbulence in magnetized plasmas. He has advised several graduate students to completion of their Ph.D. and masters studies.
