Dr. Avijeet Prasad

Biography

Dr. Prasad has been working for the past nine years on magnetohydrodynamics of the solar atmosphere with focus on magnetic reconnections and high energetic phenomena like solar flares and coronal mass ejections. For his PhD, he worked on models of non-force-free/nonlinear-force-free magnetic fields and its applications to solar active regions. He also worked on topological and statistical properties of coronal fields derived from nonlinear force-free field solutions, with focus on braiding of magnetic field lines. Apart from that he has also studied the evolution of the three-dimensional axisymmetric dynamo for a galaxy with a corona under the global magnetic helicity constraint.
