As I think about my parents' experiences in the Nazi concentration camps, I wonder: What kept them going?
On April 29, 2022, at 11:00 am CST, Professor Irving Lubliner will discuss his mother’s experiences as a victim of the Holocaust and share excerpts from her book, Only Hope: A Survivor’s Stories of the Holocaust, which he is the editor. This is a free public event sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), part of The University of Alabama System. Professor Lubliner will present via Zoom, but viewers can attend either in-person at UAH Wilson Hall or online via Zoom. Sign up at Osher.uah.edu/OnlyHope.
Before she passed away in 1974, Felicia Bornstein Lubliner wrote about her internment in Polish ghettos and two concentration camps, Auschwitz and Gross-Rosen. Her powerful stories have been edited by her son, Irving Lubliner, and shed light on his mother’s experiences and indomitable spirit as well as his own experience as a child of Holocaust survivors. Professor Lubliner will also discuss the process of bringing the book to fruition.
This unique, open-to-the-public event is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the benefits of joining OLLI at UAH. OLLI is a vibrant community of lifelong learners, age 50+, who enjoy staying intellectually and socially active through courses, social activities, bonus lectures, and more.
