Research Horizons Day

Twenty-five projects, and the students who conducted the work, were recognized for excellence in research at the Research Horizons Virtual Poster Session held this month.

Due to safety measures against the spread of COVID-19, the traditional face-to-face poster session was held virtually this year on Canvas. Judges were able to interact with undergraduate and graduate presenters via message boards and carried on with the competition by judging the posters in the virtual format.

"Giving student researchers a chance to share their research and creative projects is an important part of inquiry-based learning, and it’s the reason that Research Horizons was launched seven years ago,” says David Cook, director of Undergraduate Research at UAH.

“This year, unfortunately, we weren’t unable to give students the opportunity to present in person, so we experimented with Canvas as a platform for presenters, judges and the UAH community to interact safely,” Cook says. “I really appreciate everyone’s flexibility in giving the virtual poster session a chance and making it a great success.”
