What is Business Analytics?

Business Analytics is an exciting new field where graduates learn advanced analytic tools and techniques to help provide significant competitive advantage to organizations. Business analytics involves detecting patterns and relationships in data, predicting trends, developing forecasts, and improving decision-making within a business environment. Business Analytics involves data mining, predictive modeling, design of experiments, and statistical analysis. Many successful companies have used business analytics to better understand customer buying patterns, design loyalty programs, improve customer retention, assess the impact of marketing programs, manage new product launches, improve employee training, and reduce production, inventory, and shipping costs.

For Whom is this Program Designed?

This program is designed for professionals who want to identify meaningful patterns in business data, understand cause and effect, and help an organization reduce risk and make better decisions. Program participants will learn to mine and analyze data, design experiments, apply statistical methods, and design solutions to business problems. Students will have many opportunities to apply analytical techniques to real problems as part of a business analytics practicum.

Why a Master's Degree in Business Analytics?

There are significant job opportunities for graduates of business analytics programs. McKinsey Global Institute forecasts a shortfall of 1.5 million data-savvy managers and analysts by 2018. We live in an era where data are ubiquitous. Organizations can improve performance and secure competitive advantage by moving quickly to learn from the data about customers, suppliers, employees, and competitors.

The MSMS-BA program is designed to meet the highest standards of curriculum quality, faculty excellence, and program relevance in accordance with the College of Business' accreditation by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Program prerequisites are kept to a minimum and the program is designed to meet the needs of students with a wide variety of educational backgrounds.

Program Format: Face-to-face.

Program Length: 30 credit hours of course work. A full-time student can complete the program in one year.
Program Start Dates: A student can begin courses in any semester: spring, summer, or fall.
