Please consult directly with each agency to determine your eligibility. Utility Bills Huntsville Utilities: will work with the account holder to prevent services from being disconnected. Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP): This program provides cash and financial assistance for utility deposits and/or utility payments. Funds are paid directly to utility companies and vendors. Weatherization Assistance Program: ADECA contracts with local community action agencies and the Central Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission to deliver weatherization assistance to low-income households. Showers Showering Facilities: UAH provides showers in the University Fitness Center (UFC). Membership to the UFC is free for Full-Time Students. Community HUD Resource Locator: The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) subsidizes apartment owners, allowing them to offer units at discounted rental rates. HUD offers this nationwide aggregator of subsidized apartment and rental properties. Apartment-seekers can use this tool to locate less expensive housing options and contact managers directly.
