As the clock struck 11:59 p.m. last night, the first-ever Day of Giving at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) drew to a close.

"We were able to raise a total of $7,425 thanks to the generosity of 55 donors," says Jennifer Brost, Director of Annual Giving & Research, of the inaugural online fundraising initiative. "We are grateful for their support, and we're already looking forward to next year's Day of Giving at UAH!"

Many donors chose to designate where their tax-deductible gift should go. Brost says the top recipients of this year's campaign included the Alumni Association Scholarship, the College of Science, the Theatre program, the softball program, the College of Business Administration, and the Department of Music, with the remainder benefiting the general scholarship fund and those areas of greatest need.

Regardless of designation, however, every donation - no matter how big or small - was appreciated. Throughout the 24-hour period, students filled out campaign-themed thank-you cards to recognize those who participated in the Day of Giving. "Every little dollar helps make the student life experience the best that every student can have here," says UAH senior Michael Henry.

UAH's next Day of Giving will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015.
