Dear UAH campus community,
UAH will return to normal operations on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026.
Facilities & Operations (F&O) continues to monitor conditions across campus following the recent winter weather event. While reasonable efforts continue to be made to address ice accumulation, hazardous conditions may remain in certain areas.
Facilities & Operations has prioritized reasonable mitigation efforts in designated, high-use locations to support safe campus access. These efforts include treatment of select building entrances, sidewalks, ramps, steps and service areas. At a minimum, one accessible entrance per building is addressed, typically the primary entrance serving the main lobby.
The following facilities utilize alternate accessible entrances:
- Olin King Technology Hall (OKT): South entrance
- Shelby Center (SST): South entrance adjacent to the Student Services Building (SSB)
- Von Braun Research Hall (VBH): South entrance from Lot W30
- Engineering Building (ENG): Southeast entrance (due to active construction)
Facilities & Operations does not treat parking lots, roadways or intersections. Additionally, sidewalks outside of designated priority locations and building entrances are generally not treated. Areas identified by F&O as presenting elevated risk may be restricted or closed until conditions are evaluated and determined to be reasonably safe.
Members of the campus community are advised to exercise appropriate caution when traveling on campus. Individuals should wear suitable footwear, remain alert to changing conditions, and allow additional travel time between destinations. Shaded areas and certain surfaces may refreeze or remain hazardous as temperatures fluctuate.
Facilities & Operations will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as necessary.
Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we work to maintain safe campus operations.
