The Office of Human Resources is very excited to announce that we are bringing back in-person new hire orientation! Historically, orientation has always been conducted in person. Similar to all other programs, we were forced to conduct orientation virtually during the pandemic. Having in person orientation sessions are much more conducive to employee engagement, satisfaction, and a successful acclimation to the University.  We are pleased to make the transition back to holding orientation on-site.

Beginning on August 24, 2022, new staff orientation will be held each Wednesday in the Shelbie King Hall Training Room beginning at 8:30 A.M. We ask that attendees arrive up to 15 minutes early. If an employee is not local/remote or unable to attend in person due to an extenuating circumstance, we can still accommodate for a virtual orientation option via Zoom.

What does this mean to you? If you are a manager of a new employee, please be mindful of this change. If your new employee has any questions concerning the location of orientation, you can provide them with directions or have them contact a member of the Benefits team. We want everyone to be aware of this change so we are all consistent in the information and communications provided to new UAH employees.

Additionally, we are revamping orientation to provide new UAH employees with a much more robust and wholistic welcome experience. The presentation may take a little longer than usual, but we expect orientation sessions to conclude no later than 12:00 PM. If you have a new employee, please make sure they are aware of where they should report after orientation. We have created a new employee manager checklist that will be emailed to all managers and supervisors. This checklist will help managers and supervisors ensure completion of all tasks, requirements, and necessary steps and also aid in a smooth onboarding experience for all new hires.
