DID YOU KNOW?

In the United States:

  • Heart disease is the leading cause of death among men, women, and most racial and ethnic groups.
  • One person dies every 36 seconds from heart disease.
  • One out of every four people die of heart disease each year.
  • One out of every three women will die of heart disease.
  • Heart disease accounts for over $360 billion in healthcare-related costs each year.

February is American Heart Month and Friday, February 4th is National Wear Red Day.  Wearing red raises awareness about heart disease particularly among women.  So join us and wear your reddest red to show your support and take a photo of you alone or with a group and post it to UAH’s social media platforms.  And keep an eye out for future heart-healthy postings throughout the month.
