A message from the president of UAH.

Dear Charger Community,

I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to serve as the Interim President of The University of Alabama in Huntsville. My wife Jodie and I are delighted to join the UAH family and are thrilled to be part of this exciting community.

I’d like to thank each of you for the warm welcome you’ve given me this week. I’ve already been able to meet many students, faculty, and staff, as well as community leaders. I had the opportunity to meet with the Faculty Senate Executive Committee, Staff Senate Executive Committee, President and Vice President of SGA, as well as many others.

I also attended a fascinating Distinguished Lecture Series event featuring Admiral Michael Rogers, former director of the NSA and former commander of the U.S. Cyber Command. And last night I enjoyed the Peace on Earth concert where our University was proudly recognized as a 2021 honoree in Yamaha's inaugural Institution of Excellence program, rounded off later with a wonderful evening speaking with students at the Late Night Breakfast.

I couldn’t be more excited about our future together. I fully understand how important this job is, especially at this moment in our history. There are so many good things happening at UAH. The faculty and staff are talented and dedicated. The caliber of our students is excellent. Our graduates are making a positive impact around the world. You have created an environment that provides an education that is second to none.

Next week we face final exams. I know what a stressful time this can be for everybody involved. Yet after having visited with so many of you over the last several days, I’m very confident you will perform well. And when finals are over, I hope you each have a wonderful holiday and spend this joyful time with family and friends.

Thank you, and Go Chargers!

Sincerely,

Charles L. Karr
Interim President
