All Faculty and Students Involved in Research,

As COVID-19 has impacted our place of work and our research efforts the IRB committee has finalized and approved a new Protocol that includes research activity supporting the inclusion of deactivated SARS-CoV2 (virus causing COVID-19) samples on the campus at UAH. The link to the protocol is now located on the IRB webpage.   https://www.uah.edu/irb

The purpose of this protocol is to guide research activity that supports the inclusion of deactivated SARS-CoV2 (virus causing COVID-19). This protocol includes guidelines pertaining to all SARS-CoV2 related research activities that do not concern the propagation and handling of active SARS-CoV2 conducted on the campus of The University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Required facility: Any treatment or storage of biological samples containing deactivated SARS- CoV2 must be performed in a Biosafety Level (BSL)-2 level facility.

Please note the last 2 pages require signatures.

Please let the IRB know if you have any questions concerning submission of IRB applications that will include deactivated SARS-CoV2 samples.
