The UAH Student Government Association passed a resolution on Monday evening. This resolution pertains to students having excused absences from class in order to vote in person for elections. Dr. Dawson and Dr. Curtis have discussed the resolution and believe there is merit in the request. We applaud the SGA for encouraging students to participate in our country's electoral process.

With only a few days until the Presidential Election on Tuesday, November 3, we realize that mandating a blanket excused absence policy is not reasonable at this time, particularly for those courses that have exams scheduled. However, we encourage leniency to the extent possible.  Please be respectful of students’ desire to vote by granting students either an excused absence or leniency /makeup opportunities for lecture material or assignments scheduled for Tuesday.

Sincerely,
