Dear Faculty and Research Staff,

The Honors College is pleased to announce the 5th year of the Honors Capstone Research (HCR) Summer Program. This email is to alert you that the Call for Proposals will be released to Honors students soon, so you may be approached by one of them who would like to apply.

This program is funded through the Honor College Fee and is modeled on the UAH Research and Creative Experience for Undergraduates (RCEU) Summer Program. HCR students will receive a total stipend of $3,750. The length of the program matches the dates for the Summer Semester.

No funding is provided to the mentor through this program, but Honors students can also apply for the Honors mini- and travel grants to cover some of the costs associated with the project.

The main difference between the UAH RCEU and the Honors Capstone Research Summer Program is the application process. For the Honors program, the student, with support of the mentor, writes a one-two page proposal for consideration by the selection committee.

Mentors may apply for both the Honors program and the RCEU, but the proposals cannot be the same, and must be distinct to each program.

The eligibility and requirements for the Honors program can be found in the attachment. Special attention should be paid to restrictions for selected participants regarding employment with UAH and taking classes at UAH during the 10-week Summer Semester. The proposal and Letter of Support must be received by February 1 (5PM CST).

Please note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year, proposals must also include a plan for executing the project remotely, should face-to-face projects be restricted by State, Federal and/or University restrictions.
