Greetings from the Office of Student Life!
We are less than two weeks away from welcoming new and returning students back to campus, which means Week of Welcome is just around the corner (August 14 - 22, 2020)!
While organized through the Student Life Office, WOW is a campus wide initiative that provides all students with a variety of ways to make connections and learn about the many resources available at UAH. While this year's events may look different (several events are going virtual and many large tradition events have been cancelled), our purpose remains the same: welcoming our students to campus, assisting them in making meaningful connections with their peers, and developing a better understanding of the many resources available to them.
Like this year's events, our need for WOW volunteers looks different as well. Beginning on the first day of class, tables will be set up in each academic and student service building lobby to provide students with UAH masks, answer questions, serve as a friendly face, offer encouragement, provide campus maps, etc.
These tables will be set up weekdays (August 19 - August 28) from 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (7:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Fridays) The volunteer signup can be found here. Monday - Thursday have six volunteer shifts and Fridays have three volunteer shifts. Each day has its own tab on the Google Sheet.
Due to COVID-19 guidelines, only one staff member can work at each table. Some buildings will have more than one table in the lobby. Please feel free to sign up for more than one shift if your schedule will allow. Because these tables are located inside of campus buildings, a mask must be worn for the entirety of your shift.
Please share these opportunities with your staff and encourage them to volunteer as well.
