The increase in the cases of COVID-19 during this past week resulted in The University of Alabama System Health and Safety Task Force recommending revised Fall 2020 academic calendars for all UA System campuses. The Board of Trustees of The University of Alabama accepted the UA System Task Force recommendations that all UA System campuses eliminate fall break and stop on-campus instruction before Thanksgiving.

After discussing this required calendar change and its effect on instruction with the deans and associate deans of all UAH colleges, we are implementing the following revision to the Fall 2020 Academic Calendar.

  • Fall break will be eliminated.
  • On-campus instruction will end with the last class period on Friday, November 20, before Thanksgiving week.
  • No classes will be held during the week of Thanksgiving.
  • Classes will resume fully online for one week after Thanksgiving break.
  • Final exams will be conducted fully online during the regularly scheduled exam period, December 7-11.

The Fall 2020 Academic Calendar is outlined below.  The complete Fall 2020 Academic Calendar is posted on the Registrar’s website https://www.uah.edu/registrar/calendars.
