February 21, 2020 Senators reported the following activity on campus: The Campus and Community Relations Committee is working on Joint Legislation with the Student Senate on a “Card Access” resolution. The Communications Committee sent out the annual Staff Senate survey. Don't forget to submit your response if you haven't already! The Employee and Benefits Committee continued the discussion on paid parental leave. There are still many questions that we need to resolve, some of them have to do with the way leave is handled at UAH and whether paid parental leave would be feasible within the current system. The Events Committee held Take Your Child to Work Day on February 17. There were 49 children in attendance who enjoyed spending the day as Chargers! The Executive Committee met with Dr. Dawson to discuss our efforts and challenges, including career mapping, professional development, communications, campus safety, accessibility, etc. The Operations Committee is preparing for the upcoming Staff Senate election process, which will begin with nomination requests the week of March 2. The Service and Outreach Committee is hosting a UAH get together and partial proceeds night at Fractal Brewing on Thursday, March 19, 2020. Donations will go to the Huntsville Special Olympics. The event starts at 5:30PM (though Fractal opens at 3 for anyone wanting to get there earlier) and will feature a food truck and live entertainment. The Executive Committee has met with staff representatives at UA and UAB twice now to discuss areas of shared interest and potential collaboration.
